HolidayFilter ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

1. Who we are

HolidayFilter is an independent travel data website at holidayfilter.co.uk. We help British travellers find holiday destinations that match their vibe and preferences. We are not affiliated with any tour operator, airline or hotel group.

2. What data we collect

We collect two categories of data:

• Usage data (analytics): anonymous page views, referrer URLs, browser type, and general geographic region (country level). Collected via Google Analytics 4 only after you accept cookies.
• Contact form submissions: if you submit the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. This is stored securely by Netlify (our hosting provider) and used only to respond to your enquiry.

We do not collect payment information, create user accounts, or store any data that identifies you personally beyond contact form submissions.

3. Cookies

We use one category of cookies:

• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4): these are set only after you click "Got it" on the cookie banner. They help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. No personal data is passed to Google.

We also use a single functional cookie (hf_cookies) to remember your cookie preference. This cookie contains no personal data.

If you do not accept cookies, the site works exactly the same — we simply don't collect analytics.

4. Affiliate links

Hotel links on HolidayFilter go to Booking.com via the CJ Affiliate network. Flight links go to Skyscanner. If you click these links and make a booking, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate participation does not influence our destination scores in any way.

Clicking an affiliate link may result in Booking.com or Skyscanner placing their own cookies on your device. Please refer to their privacy policies for details.

5. Third-party services

• Netlify — our hosting provider. Netlify processes server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) as a routine part of serving the website. See Netlify's privacy policy.
• Google Analytics 4 — analytics (only with your consent). See Google's privacy policy.
• Booking.com / Skyscanner — affiliate booking platforms. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit their sites.

6. Your rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time (clear your browser cookies)

7. Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months. Analytics data is retained for 14 months (Google Analytics default), after which it is deleted automatically.

8. Children's privacy

HolidayFilter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
